Democracy Team
The Democracy Team at USR was established in 2024, continuing and amplifying our congregation’s long involvement in social justice. We strategize cooperatively to stem the erosion of democratic values that is happening in our country. Here at USR we are steeped in the tradition of commitment to the democratic process. Our administration building honors the memory Rev. James Reeb, a UU minister who traveled to Selma, Alabama in 1965 to help secure voting rights where he was was viciously attacked by white supremacists, later dying from his injuries.
Our Democracy Team focuses on values. Our Unitarian belief in pluralism, the right of conscience and the democratic process drives us to act for change.
